Workshop Description

Recommended age: 7 and above, children 4-6 are welcome and must be accompanied by an adult. All our workshops begin with a safety briefing. During this workshop, students are introduced to the process of designing and making. Thinking creatively and independently, students will be guided through these projects with inquiry practices and prompts to come up with their own ideas! Project 1: Desktop Creative Clock A digital clock project where a mundane everyday object becomes a desktop companion creature, or has an added function, a display stand. Options are endless, the only limit is imagination! Project 2: Something that moves A create-it-on-your-own type of project where students make what comes to mind: a crazy vehicle, a moving robot, a sea creature with wheels? Each end product is unique! What will I learn: - Workshop safety and behaviours - Using light hand tools (child appropriate) - Creative thinking - Making a 2D plan - Wood processing methods: sawing, sanding, etc - Simple wood joining methods __________________ Additional details: - Take a short break if you need its, pack snacks! - Attire: Please wear closed toe shoes to the venue. - Attire: Comfortable, No loose or flowy clothing. - No use of power tools for the safety of the children. - All personal PPE (personal protective equipment) will be provided *This activity requires a minimum of 4 persons to proceed. You may book for fewer than 4 persons but if there are fewer than 4 persons booked for the date, you may reschedule to another date.
