Give your kids an opportunity to explore natural material and construct their own toy! Workshop duration: 2 hour Recommended age: 8 and above, children 4-7 are welcome and must be accompanied by an adult. All our workshops begin with a safety briefing. (Even for returning students) What to expect: In this workshop, children experience a wood working version of Montessori building blocks. Building blocks are considered the most classic of childhood toys. It is such a successful toy because it allows for self-directed activity, hands-on learning and collaborative play. During this 2 hour workshop, participants will design, plan and build their own toy. The open-ended nature of the sessions permits children to explore their own assumptions, make mistakes and harness their own problem-solving skills. What will I learn: Building blocks improve a child's spatial reasoning skills. During play, children explore how the blocks will fit together to create their design, how they might use the different blocks to represent a part of their toy and develop their motor-skills and coordination. - Safety in the workshop - How to use different hand tools - Sanding techniques - Joining methods Additional details: - A short tea break is provided. - Attire: Please wear closed toe shoes to the venue. - Attire: Comfortable, No loose or flowy clothing. - No use of power tools for the safety of the children. - All personal PPE (personal protective equipment) will be provided *This activity requires a minimum of 4 persons to proceed. You may book for fewer than 4 persons but if there are fewer than 4 persons booked for the date, you may reschedule to another date. When Arriving at Location - For drivers, you may park within the building's compound.
