Workshop Description

Recommended age: 8 and above, children 4-7 are welcome and must be accompanied by an adult. All our workshops begin with a safety briefing. (Even for returning students) Workshop duration: 2 hours What to expect: A creative and functional woodworking project, this creature lamp has moving limbs and can lights up! The open-ended nature of the sessions permits children to explore their own assumptions, make mistakes and harness their own problem-solving skills. Piecing together wood pieces to create something from nothing is like playing with building blocks as a child! Building blocks are considered the most classic of childhood toys. It is such a successful toy because it allows for self-directed activity, hands-on learning and collaborative play. What will I learn: Our 2-hour workshop introduces children to hand tools, light electric tools and get a feel of working with wood. We observe children working with their hands, tinkering, constructing models, and working on projects, but in fact the real transformation is inside the child – personal development is at the heart of woodwork. - Safety in the workshop - How to use different hand tools - Sanding techniques - Joining methods Additional details: - A short tea break is provided. - Attire: Please wear closed toe shoes to the venue. - Attire: Comfortable, No loose or flowy clothing. - No use of power tools for the safety of the children. - All personal PPE (personal protective equipment) will be provided *This activity requires a minimum of 4 persons to proceed. You may book for fewer than 4 persons but if there are fewer than 4 persons booked for the date, you may reschedule to another date.
