A Sneak Peek into the Camp Experience
Our woodworking camp offers a dynamic blend of creativity, skill-building, and hands-on learning. Here's a glimpse of what your child can anticipate:
1. Engaging Woodworking Projects and more
Over the course of four days, your child will dive into captivating activities under the guidance of skilled instructors. From crafting unique items to mastering essential woodworking techniques, this camp is an immersive experience that fosters growth.
Day 1: Make a bread tray
The introductory session provides children a chance to work with hand tools and wood to build something functional. They will need to learn about joinery and reinforcements of corners to create a strong and stable structure. Measurements and geometry will also be employed in the making of a bread tray.
Day 2: Baking Focaccia bread
Children will gain experience using digital scales and timers to ensure accuracy and consistency during the baking process. Baking bread offers artistic opportunities when it comes to decorating the loaves. Children can experiment with different ingredients to enhance the bread's aesthetic appeal. They will also learn about gluten and how the kneading and resting process affects the structure and texture of the bread.
Day 3: Learn About Windmills and Build Your Own
The lesson starts with an interactive briefing on how Windmills work. After discussing the components of a windmill, children start their own woodworking project to create a pulley system that requires wind to work.
Day 4: Batteries, wood, and a light! At the end of this lesson, children will understand the basic concepts of electric circuits, identify key components and incorporate a simple circuit in a toy design of their own. The project also involves designing and painting.
2. Skills That Last a Lifetime
Beyond crafting, your child will develop crucial skills such as problem-solving, patience, and attention to detail. Working with tools and materials ignites their fine motor skills and enhances their ability to approach challenges with confidence.
3. Nurturing Creativity
Woodworking is a canvas for self-expression. Your child will revel in the freedom to design, personalize, and bring their imaginative ideas to life through the medium of wood.
4. Building Friendships
Friendships flourish in a collaborative environment. Through teamwork and shared creativity, your child will form connections that extend beyond the workshop, fostering social skills and camaraderie.
